Looking for a more beautiful way to wrap a bottle? This clever technique makes a bottle of wine feel like a proper gift — and it's much easier than it looks!
Instead of simply popping a bottle into a gift bag, why not wrap it in paper and finish it with a ribbon? This is one of my favourite ways to make a bottle feel a little more special, and our striped wrapping paper works particularly well for this technique.
What you'll need
- A bottle of wine, fizz or your favourite tipple
- A sheet of wrapping paper
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
How to wrap your bottle
1. Cut your paper to size
Place your bottle towards one edge of the wrapping paper and cut a piece large enough to wrap around the bottle, leaving plenty of paper above the top.
2. Concertina one side
Concertina one side to roughly just before the centre. Then add a strip of tape.
3. Roll the Bottle
Place the bottle on its side and roll it across the paper, securing the edge as you go. Keep the paper fairly snug around the bottle so it holds its shape.
4. Secure with ribbon
Tie a ribbon around the base of the bottle neck to hold everything in place. A contrasting ribbon really makes the wrapping pop.
I've used navy ribbon here with our pink and gold stripe paper, but you can change the colours to suit the occasion.
5. Add a little something extra
Finish with a gift tag or card and you're done!

I love wrapping bottles this way because it turns something quite ordinary into something that feels thoughtful, colourful and properly gift-worthy.
It's perfect for birthdays, dinner parties, Christmas gifts, weddings or simply taking a bottle along when you're visiting friends.
And once you've got the technique, you can experiment with different papers and ribbons to create completely different looks.
